FAQs

We conducts programs
to sensitize households, schools
and hotels.

Why combine humanitarian aid with environmental programs?

Humanitarian needs and environmental sustainability go hand in hand. Communities cannot thrive without food, water, and shelter, but they also cannot survive long-term without protecting their environment.

Why focus on food and water waste?

Food and water waste directly worsen hunger, poverty, and scarcity. Reducing waste means conserving resources, protecting the environment, and ensuring vulnerable communities have enough to meet their needs.

How do you encourage people to reduce waste?

We teach communities to cook only what is needed, to store food properly, and to save water using taps, cisterns, and water-efficient devices.

Is reusing food safe?

Yes. We emphasize safe storage and reuse within homes. Leftovers can be eaten later if properly stored, and water can be reused for cleaning or refilling containers.

How is food recycled into useful products?

Food scraps can be composted or turned into animal feed. Even animal bones can be recycled into plates, cups, or jewelry. Water, once purified, can be reused for irrigation, fish farming, or safe consumption.

What does sensitization mean?

It means raising awareness and changing behaviors. BRO does this through community workshops, school outreach, household visits, awareness campaigns, practical demonstrations, and advocacy.

Can you give an example of your awareness campaigns?

Yes, for example, we run radio talk shows on responsible water use, organize school competitions on zero waste, and host events on World Water Day to engage communities.

How can the Global Zero Waste Forum work with BRO?

We are open to joint campaigns, knowledge sharing, policy advocacy, and capacity building. Together, we can amplify impact locally and globally.
